My Process & Skills

I pride myself on having a vast array of skills in different departments and enjoy being involved from the conception of an idea to its completion and publication.

1: Strategic Planning

This phase involves working with clients to solve their problems at the business level, choosing a tech stack, reviewing constraints, and developing a plan.

3.1: Evaluation of Languages

Next, in order for the application to have a strong backbone, the base language of each part of the application will be chosen.

3.4: Evaluation of Databases & Datastores

My Work & Experiences

I've worked with companies ranging from small startups to international consumer brands to bring their ideas to life.

2016-Present

Cantina Consulting

Cantina has allowed me to vastly improve my technical and client-facing skills over my four years at the company as a technical consultant intern. I've worked with global consumer brands, medical technology companies, festivals bringing in thousands of people, and revolutionary startups. My work in consulting has let me face a vast amount of real-world problems in the industry and how to effectively solve them.

2019-Present

Feline Labs

While I love the variety of consulting, I also have passions in the social startup space. Feline has granted me the ability to call myself a business owner, where we try to make socially-conscious versions of the addictive apps that are causing the next generation to feel increasingly lonely, isolated, and depressed.

Boop

In order to better understand the problem, we decided to make our first application more of an experiment. Instead of tackling an existing monolith application, we made a simple chat room where people could anonymously (or not) post their thoughts at night when we're most vulnerable. Others can then boop them as nothing more of an acknowledgement or a "like."

ChangeMyMind

Instead of people replying, blocking, and getting cancelled on Twitter, we decided to make an application where people could take a position and have a conversation with someone who disagrees. No dogpiles, no likes, no fake internet fame. It's meant to challenge others' beliefs as well as your own.

Mutual

A side-effect of our increasingly lonely culture is finding people with whom we have a lot in common with, especially for the introverts. You can tell a lot about someone from their Youtube subscriptions, Twitter followers, Facebook likes, and Spotify tracks, so why are we not using these mutual interests for social connections?

2019

Nantucket Island Chamber of Commerce

In order to extend the peak season of a seasonal community, the Nantucket Island Chamber of Commerce partnered with WPI and requested a web and mobile application for tourists and businesses to see the operating hours of island businesses, which fluctuate more than what traditional directory services account for. They also desired a place where tourists could see promotions, news, and island events all in one centralized location.

This was a five-week project so we recommended the NICC reach out to a third party to clean up the codebase, fix any bugs, and continue development.

Development

In five weeks, I created a website, iOS application, and Android application for the Nantucket Island Chamber of Commerce for use by businessess, residents, and tourists.

The website is mostly for businesses to enter their details, hours of operation, and any running promotions they may have.

Welcome

The welcome screen is a user-friendly way to access features by the application. Our first iteration included tabs at the bottom but many found it confusing and difficult to use. With our demographic, we decided a homescreen would be the most intuitive solution.

Daily

Daily provides a high-level overview of what is happening on the island on any given day. It is sortable by the categories at the top.

Explore

Explore provides an interactive map (provided by Mapbox) that places the businesses and events in the context of location.

Directory

Directory provides a searchable (powered by Algolia) directory of the businesses on the island, sorted by who is open, with the ability to see their operating hours for the next two months, get directions to the business, call the business, and see their current promotions.

WAVE

The WAVE is the local bus service on the island of Nantucket. Our app provides realtime locations of their buses and all the stops the buses make, with a schedule so users can see when the next bus will be at any given stop.

Taxis

Supporting local taxis is important to the Chamber of Commerce, so instead of integrating services like Uber or Lyft, we provided a list of taxi services and a way to call them from the application.

Ferries

Ferries are the most popular way of getting to Nantucket. We provide a schedule of when these ferries arrive and depart as well as a link to book them.

Flights

Flights are another way people reach the island. We provide a schedule (provided by Kiwi.com) of when planes arrive and depart as well as a link to book them.

2019

Brigham & Women's Hospital

As a part of WPI's most infamous and rigorous course, Software Engineering, we had five weeks to put together a fully functioning kiosk with wayfinding algorithms, room schedulers, service request functionality, and more. This project gave me experience working in a large, ten-person team, as well as a project with tight time constraints in an enterprise language/framework.

I also took this opportunity to enhance my enterprise user interface design skills.

2017-2018

Clapback, LLC

As a precursor to Feline, the first company I started was about live video debates as a response to the increasingly crazy world we found ourselves in in 2015-2016. This was the most expansive application I've ever created, and it may just have a future revival in some form at Feline.

Unfortunately a lot of the code is outdated from 2017 and I could only find partial screenshots - I'm working on it!

2014-2017

Clanyon

My first ever major project was ambitious - a website generator for gaming communities. This project shows my progress as a designer and developer, and as such the images shown in the gallery are from most recent to least recent.
